LR: Bruno Retailleau launches a membership campaign by addressing "honest people"

LR: Bruno Retailleau launches a membership campaign by addressing "honest people"
The Interior Minister and president of the LR party intends to "bring a broad audience" with this slogan. "I want to address the majority (of French people), those who work hard and are fed up with seeing others abuse the system and live off society," he explained on Europe 1 and CNews.

The leader of the Republicans (LR) Bruno Retailleau announced this Wednesday, June 18, the launch of a party membership campaign aimed at "honest people," arguing in particular for the introduction of capped social assistance in order to differentiate income from work and income from "welfare."

"I believe that we can bring a very broad audience together" with this slogan, the Minister of the Interior affirmed on CNews and Europe 1, launching this campaign on the occasion of June 18 and the appeal of General de Gaulle, to whom he presented LR as "his heirs."

For this campaign, which is accompanied by photos of a firefighter, a policewoman and a restaurateur photographed from behind, Bruno Retailleau has taken up one of the recurring themes of his recent campaign for the presidency of the party, which he won by a large margin , where he addressed "the France of honest people" during his rallies.

"I want to address the majority (of French people), those who work hard and are fed up with seeing others abuse the system and live off society," he explained.

"I want us to be able to create a ceiling (for) a single social allowance so that there is a difference between income from work and income from assistance," he added, also addressing "those who are fed up (...) with seeing families who receive child benefits and who leave children hanging around in the streets after midnight."

Among these "honest people," the LR leader included "foreigners who came to us perfectly legally, who have integrated perfectly and - I dare say the word - assimilated and who are fed up with seeing illegal immigrants who come and who will benefit" from state medical aid (AME).

During the party's presidential campaign this spring, Republican membership nearly tripled, from nearly 45,000 to nearly 125,000.
